Wind & Fire Show
EKAM were asked if we could publicise
the annual Wind & Fire Bike Show
which takes place in Folkestone each
April. The show is run by a bike club
made up of Harley owning Fire
Fighters. As it happened, at the
previous Committee meeting we had
agreed to get involved with the Road
Safety campaign being run this year by
Kent Fire Brigade, so it seem a good
idea to actually have a stand at the
show.
What a great little show it turned out to
be. There were loads of different
stands set
up on the
day,
ranging
from the
Blue
Angels, a
Police bike
group, to
the
Christian bikers and various custom
bike clubs and of course the Fire
Fighters. We were also blessed with a
lovely hot day. Last year it was hot on
set up day but
snowed on the show
day. That was when
BSB was cancelled
due to snow at
Brands Hatch if you
remember. There
was a great
atmosphere at the
show, with plenty to
see. Almost
everyone turned up
on bikes, so there
was almost as much
to see in the bike
park as there was at
the show.
This was the first
outing for the newly purchased
EKAM ‘pop up’ gazebo. We had a
lot of interest on the day into what
we do, which was very useful as we
were able to tell people about our
Open Day at Lydden a couple of
weekends later. The show was also
the first opportunity for our new
‘official photographer’, Jo, to
practice her art. See the club
website for loads of good pictures.
All in all we were very pleased to
have been involved with the show,
and all the efforts put in paid off
because of the high level of interest
our stand generated.  Roll on next
year.
