Letters to the Editor
25 May 2009
Dear Ed,
I recently made a suggestion to the committee regarding trophies. I suggested that
EKAM present the main trophy and give a smaller one to the recipient. After the
photos etc. the main trophy is then taken back, engraved and hopefully put on display
in the club house with the recipient keeping the smaller one. This would solve several
problems:
1.  The committee would know where the trophies are.
2.  There would be less chance of them getting ‘lost’, and
3.  They could be presented to the recipients ON THE NIGHT. That would solve
the problem I had.
The committee turned down my suggestion.
I don’t wish to appear as a whinger but, when I passed my Advanced Test I was over
the moon. Then to win the best Test Pass of the Year award (against guys/gals a lot
younger than I) was the cherry on the cake. To get on stage only to be told the trophy
couldn’t be found was a bit of an anti-climax to say the least. At my age, any award is
much appreciated. It made a mockery of Nigel saying about the lengths they went to
ensure I would be at the meeting. Over a month on: still no trophy.
I know I may be leaving myself wide open here but I’d be interested to know what
other club members think.
