Welcome
Welcome all to the first issue of our
new format club magazine.  We hope
you like it.
It’s quite a coincidence that this is the
first issue following the 100th last
printed; hopefully it’s a good omen for
the club.
This new magazine reflects the
forward thinking of your committee
and is part of its efforts to bring your
club up-to-date and get to the fore out
there.  It’s your magazine so please
help us to give you what you want to
see and read inside.  If you know of
any events that are going to happen or
would like to see any particular items
or articles in the mag, let the editor or
a member of the committee know
about it.  That way we can go from
strength to strength.
You will see a new feature “Bike of the
Month” tested by one of your own with
information that may help in deciding
your next bike.  Never mind the rocket
aces who write for the big magazines
who are only interested in Mach 1
speeds and BHP, this is what you want
to read about by normal(ish) riders.
Let’s have your letters to the editor for
that feature, get it off your chest, good
or bad.
We have an opportunity to show the
wider community what we are about
as this magazine will be distributed to
various venues around East Kent.
With your help we can get the
message across about safer, more
enjoyable riding with EKAM.  Anyway,
hope you enjoy it.
Keep upright, straight and true and
enjoy the summer.

EKAM OPEN DAY at
LYDDEN CIRCUIT
Our first Open Day at
Lydden was a great
success.
Not only did we have lots
of visitors to enquire what
EKAM could offer them, but
a good number of EKAM
members attended as well, to enjoy the
atmosphere at Lydden
Nigel Stevens provided
the ‘base
camp’ with
his motor
home and
large
gazebo.  This was useful
for the handful of
members who were
booked in for the track
day sessions.  The track
bikes also provided a draw to
visitors.  We had the Advanced Views
DVD playing all day in the
gazebo, plus lots of leaflets
and goodie bags to hand
out to visitors.
Our EKAM ‘pop up’ gazebo
was used by Tony to give
mini ITAM talks throughout
the day.  We had a
constant stream of
Observers on hand to do
the free assessment
rides.  John even
managed to do a pre-test
check ride for an
Associate who dropped
in.
At the end of the day I believe we signed
up 6 new members, plus talked a few
others into doing our taster £20 ITAM.
Thanks are due to Nigel for
providing his motor home
and kettle, all the Observers
for conducting the rides, to
Tony for his mini ITAMs, to all
those members who attended
during the day to create a real
‘Club’ atmosphere, which made
a good impression on our
visitors.
We may do the whole thing again at the
next bike track day in July.  Watch this
space for news.
