Apparently my reputation had gone
before me and those at the track day
were aware that Ian was associated with
a ‘fierce woman on the phone’ who was
determined he should enjoy his birthday
present. This is some of what Ian had to
say when he walked through the door
that evening:
It was brilliant – best fun I’ve ever had –
this could get addictive – everyone was
friendly and helpful – a safety briefing
started the day - my instructor was with
me all the way – he was so approachable
and constructive - you could talk to the
mechanics – I did 85 round Paddock
Bend; my instructor (an ex racer) only
gets up to 100; the GP boys do 130! –
each 20 minutes of track time was
intensive and exhausting – I whizzed
past the pits and overtook slower riders –
my foot touched down before my knee –
got loads of track time – tyres were
shredded by the end of the day – I got
lots of helpful tips and instruction –
encouraged to drink plenty of fluids –
there was a café – got quicker as the day
progressed – instructor said I was a very
smooth rider – totally different way of
riding to what we teach at EKAM (I
should hope so!) – the angle of lean is
incredible – it was great fun – want to do
it again.
Well done to Focused Events for coming
up trumps on the day, but for goodness
sake get your act together in the office.
