September club night
We were very fortunate to have a visit
and talk by Geoff Walker on our
September club night about "how your
bike goes round bends". Geoff obviously
knows his subject inside out and kept
everyone enthralled with his talk and the
array of aids he used, from small wheels
on poles to a full size cardboard cut out
of a motorcycle with a movable front
wheel. Also, he wasn't slow in pulling
volunteers from the audience to help to
demonstrate a point. I for one didn't
realise all the forces that come into play
when a bike turns
into a bend.
An excellent talk,
well presented and
received by the
audience. I will make
sure that under no
circumstances will I
be gripping the front
bars too hard when
going into turns.
Gently and smoothly,
as ever, should be
the byword. TR
