Chairman’s Christmas Message
As it is that time of the year when most
people look forward to the Christmas
festivities and take the chance to
reflect on the year past and maybe
what’s to come, I thought I would share
some of my thoughts.
In a rare, quiet moment recently I sat
thinking about our club and what we have
achieved together. We will never know how many
motorcyclists’ lives we, as a club, have saved but I’m
positive that had those unfortunate fellow bikers who
have sadly lost their lives over the last year had the
benefit of advanced training, they may well have been
with us now. The tremendous impact on families of a life
lost is probably felt even more at this time of year.
Our Observer Corps and Committee make a heavy commitment
in time and effort in the cause of further training and
road safety for motorcyclists. Many of our members wave
the flag in promoting our club to get the uninitiated to
come along and see what it’s all about. It does at times
seem an uphill struggle to get riders, especially the
younger ones, to come along but I know that everyone in
the club will continue to try and get the message out
there, so we can know that we have done our bit to save
lives.
I believe we have the best advanced motorcyclist group
in the country, but then I’m biased. I’m proud to tell
people I meet that I belong to EKAM and what a great
bunch you are.
Keep spreading the word and enjoy your Christmas and New
Year. My best wishes to you and your families and may we
all look forward to 2010 and all the glorious riding
days we can get.
