I’m the Chief Traffic Steward for the Kent County Agricultural Society,
KCAS. I’m looking for three or four key people to help me as Traffic
Stewards at the Kent Show this year. The Kent Show is held over three
days in July and attracts around 100,000 visitors.
We have around 25,000 cars enter the showground over the three days
of the show. The Kent Lions Club are employed to handle the actual
parking and movement of these cars within the showground. Kent
Police and Kent Highways control the traffic on the public highway.
Myself and my existing small team of KCAS traffic stewards liaise
with both sides and help out at peak periods.
In 2008, due to various changes in highway traffic rules and regs. we
had to implement a new traffic management plan, which failed quite
badly. In 2009 lessons had been learnt and adopted and the result was a
great success. However we want to build on this, which involves having
a small team that can work with the Lions to oversee the changing
traffic patterns during the peak afternoon periods and help coordinate
with the Lions to handle these spikes.
This year the three day show is on the 16/17/18th July. I’m looking for
someone who can commit for two days, Saturday and Sunday, between
2:30pm and 7pm. Just like myself, you will be an unpaid volunteer.
However you will get free entry to all three days of the show, the
Members’ enclosure, along with meals, refreshments and other
Members’ privileges.
If you are interested please give me a ring and we can have a chat.
